Apple and Nike are two of the strongest brands in the area of consumer goods.. design is at the forefront of all their products. They just announced a joint effort to synergize Nike shoes and the ipod nano. Looks relatively intersting, you buy the special Nike shoes and a $30 kit, and your shoes broadcast your running data to your ipod nano. Looks like it shows overall time, distance, pace, etc. and also gives you audible updates through your ipod. Sounds kinda neat, but I don't like Nike running shoes. Would be totally awesome if they added a GPS and somehow could get your heart rate.

Agree on being anti-Nike running shoes. I think its a general big guy bias to some degree.
The list of features for ideal running gear is gonna go something like: LIGHTWEIGHT, GPS, Heartrate, Music, Audio and Visual information. The information presented ideally includes pace, distance, time, strides. For visual presentation I am not a huge fan of the running watch (mine being so gigantic and all) but I can accept that displaying it HUD style on my sunglasses is future-Tech. The audio stuff will be interesting in that I can imagine 1200 ways it could be done wrong. It will have to be highly configurable such that it never interupts 'Love on the Rocks' no matter if my heartrate is 385 is about to explode.
I can accept the heart rate chest strap for now but also feel like there should be a better way such as a fingertip thimble cover thing or some type of probe.
